“Making Downtown More Lovable 2”.

Eight downtown businesses were revitalized with new awnings through funds from Picayune Main Street’s Façade Grant Program and a Community Investment Program Grant from the Mississippi Power Foundation.

Mixed Media Visual Artist and Muralist, Andy Green, designed a collection of murals and signage using local  history through detailed art in Downtown Picayune.

City of Picayune Beautification Department has 2 Greenhouses donated from MS Power and PRC School System. The beautification department cultivates and transplants over 6,000 plants twice a year. The department  designed, planted and maintains 70 flowerbeds throughout Picayune,  20 of those flowerbeds along with 77 planters and hanging baskets are located in Downtown Picayune MS.

Ashley Anderson Mason, owner of Gallery 32 Studio, an Acrylic and Muralist is sharing her talent in Downtown Picayune MS . Stay tuned for more of Ashley’s artwork soon in Downtown Picayune MS.

Economic Vitality
  • Awarded MS Main Street- 2020 Outstanding Façade Improvement Project- Making Downtown More Lovable Campaign
  • Recognized 2nd Place State Civic/Non-Profit Organization by Keep Mississippi Beautiful
  • Received $55,000.00 in  Grants for Downtown Revitalization Purpose
  • Received $10,500.00 Grants from Visit MS to promote Picayune MS
  • Received $ 6,500.00 Grant for 2021 Alley Projects
  • Received $1,000.00 Grant Downtown Beautification Grant from Wal-Mart
  • Awarded $61,000.00 in Grants to  Downtown Business Owners
  • Secured Funding from MS Heritage Area Program to Preserve trunk filled with personal material, papers and drawings of Wilfred Lockyer that was donated to the Lower Pearl River Valley Transportation Museum by Mark and Lourie Formby through the Picayune Main Street program. Contents of trunk were examined, catalogued, and scanned under the direction of Rhonda Jenkins Price with the MS Heritage Area Program.

2019 MS Main Street State Awards Luncheon,                                                                                 Mr. Bill Edwards was Nominated Home Town Hero.
Reba Beebe  Board Member Beth Stewart Jarrell and House 108 Representative Stacey Wilkes accepted award in Mr. Bill’s absence.
Mayor Ed Pinero Presented Mr. Bill Edwards 2019 Award  @ City Council Meeting

City of Picayune received 2 awards during the 2018 MS Main Street Association Awards at the Old Capitol Inn Building in Jackson MS.  
Picayune Main Street, Inc. with the help of Bill & Sally Edwards of SalBil Video nominated the City of Picayune for both awards.
