Ground Breaking Ceremony was held on Monday, January 10th @ 10am to dedicate the construction of the new playground at Kid’s Kingdom in Friendship Park in Picayune MS
” Kids Kingdom Playground will be one of the prime playgrounds in South Mississippi,” said Picayune Mayor Jim Luke. “It will be the only full-inclusive playground for children with disabilities on the Gulf Coast.”
“We see color, we see vertical structures, and it is all the beginning of the third-largest playground in the state of Mississippi,” said Eric Morris, Picayune Public Works Director.   Kids Kingdom Playground will be one of the prime playgrounds in South“

Picayune Main Street’s Economic Vitality Team understands downtown is critical to the success of the community. With confidence that the community would survive the pandemic, the team agreed to continue Moving Picayune Forward with the Revitalization Campaign
“Making Downtown More Lovable 2”.
Eight downtown businesses were revitalized with new awnings through funds from Picayune Main Street’s Façade Grant Program and a Community Investment Program Grant from the Mississippi Power Foundation. Mississippi Power Area Manager Byron Hill is very active in Downtown Picayune’s Revitalization Projects to keep the community lively and strong. Downtown business owners have seen a noticeable increase in foot traffic.

New businesses have opened or expanded.

designation signifies a commitment to comprehensive revitalization, community
engagement, and rigorous outcome measurement. Main Street America Accredited™
programs have a proven track record of planning, implementing, and measuring results
that align with the Main Street Approach. National Accreditation is a powerful advocacy
tool that highlights a program’s work and showcases their achievements.

All Accredited programs have demonstrated their success by meeting a series of rigorous accreditation

Mixed Media Visual Artist and Muralist, Andy Green, designed a collection of murals and signage using local  history through detailed art in Downtown Picayune.

City of Picayune Beautification Department has 2 Greenhouses donated from MS Power and PRC School System. The beautification department cultivates and transplants over 6,000 plants twice a year. The department  designed, planted and maintains 70 flowerbeds throughout Picayune,  20 of those flowerbeds along with 77 planters and hanging baskets are located in Downtown Picayune MS.
